Did Franklin and John Adams argue about an open window while sharing a bed?

Adams told the story himself. Travelling in September 1776, they got one bed in a small room at a New Brunswick inn. Adams shut the window; Franklin protested that they would be suffocated and explained his “Theory of Colds.” Adams wrote that he was so amused he soon fell asleep.
